The natural gas market of Ukraine faces many problems including a lack of free competition and extensive administrative barriers to market entry. To address these issues, the Competition Development Foundation held a roundtable on May 14, 2015 involving local and international experts from relevant fields. Their conclusions included provisions requiring the liberalization of the natural gas market and the subsequent determination of the real market price of natural gas. Ukraine currently faces an important period of reform whose success are integral to the economic progression of Ukraine. The AMCU plays an fundamental role in these reforms. An important issue within the realm of competition law in Ukraine is the predictability and transparency of the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU). Subsequently, the Competition Development Foundation organized and hosted a roundtable on September 9, 2015 regarding this issue. Important topics of discussion included drafting standardized principles for the imposition of fines on undertakings for their violations of economic competition. The Competition Development Foundation, with the assistance of the expert council among other experts, amended the draft law the AMCU submitted regarding the aforementioned issue.
